We looked at a piece of land where David North had just started building, but had just graded and poured the foundation. We fell in love with the site, and we had seen a few of David’s houses and really liked the style and quality of craftsmanship. In a slightly unusual process, we bought the land and house unfinished from David, with the closing only after the house was complete. While this might have made some buyers nervous, David was fantastic throughout the process. We made some changes to the original design, and he was flexible and had some great ideas for improving the space. He and his team communicated really well, were available to us if we had questions (there were many!), and delivered all that they promised and more. David had to rearrange his calendar to get our house finished for ski season, but he was happy to do it and finished the house by October, right on schedule. Even better, David stayed within the budget and we had no surprises! We have been in the home for two years now, and we love it. The quality and craftsmanship that David put into the project is evident throughout the house. We have had no problems at all since we closed. The comfort and quality of the design make it easy to be there, summer and winter. We recommend David North highly, especially if you are not on site every day. This was our first experience with new construction and it was a very good one. After meeting with several builders and visiting many homes, we decided to hire David. We had been in several homes that he had built and knew from speaking to owners of his homes that he did quality work. In addition, we live in Massachusetts, thus we would not be present during much of the construction. Because of our distance, it was especially important to work with a builder that was accessible and trustworthy. David has both of these qualities. He always answered the phone when I called (sometimes several times a day) and was happy to answer questions I had during the construction. He continually called and texted me pictures (without me having to ask) to keep me updated on the progress. In addition, David has a reliable crew that have been with him many years. They were both skilled and very nice to work with. Importantly, we built our home within the budget we agreed to, which is rare. There were no surprises. We looked through a number of development areas, one of which was the Will View Development by David North. Immediately, we were impressed by the attractiveness and spaciousness of the development. We stopped at a home that was under construction, we went through the home and were struck with the feeling, “ here it is, this is what we are looking for”! South facing spacious deck, open kitchen living room area, plenty of space, great family room, pine ceilings, at a reasonable price! We met with David and moved forward with the purchase of the home. We found David North to be honest, caring and accommodating as we made a few changes to the interior (different tile, appliances, etc.) We have owned the home for 5 years and we are as happy today as the day we purchased our ski hideaway! When my wife and I decided to move forward with our remodeling project we were both excited but also a bit overwhelmed. We have never done a project this big and this was a second home that was 3 hrs from our primary residence so we wouldn’t be able to be on site all the time overseeing things. You hear all kinds of nightmares about people’s experiences with contractors. However, we were lucky enough to have a friend refer us to David. After giving him some very rough building plans for the project and having just a few conversations with him he knew exactly what we wanted to have done. Based on his experience and vision he actually transformed our plans and made them even better than we could have imagined. For an example, he turned some second floor space that another builder told me could maybe be used for some crawlspace attic storage into a large master suite with full bath and balcony overlooking the lake, all within the exact same footprint we had drafted out. It was incredible and just one of many improvements to our original plans. He was very easy to work with and truly seemed to treat the project as if he was working on his own home. He would send us frequent updates, with pictures, to keep us up to speed on the progress of the project since we couldn’t be on site all the time and his work product was second to none. Every person who has been to the house has asked who the contractor was and if they could get his contact info. My wife’s only issue with David….that his offices aren’t closer to our primary home so he could transform that like he did our vacation home.
